14 young people that come from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds will benefit from the initiative in the first term of the 2018-2019 academic year.
Under the name of RMF: Scholarship in English for young adults at the British Council 2018-2019, the Ramon Molinas Foundation has renewed its scholarship scheme with the aim of promoting English language learning in academically high-achieving young people from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds. The participants of the project will attend classes in the British Council centre in Barcelona and will have access to all the educational materials that the academy provides to all of its students.
The young people selected come from organisations that work in the field of social action. Recipients of BarcelonActua’s BAC Scholarships and students that use the Itaca Educational Association services will enrol on an English language course consisting of 90 hours of teaching – split into 30 hours per term – at the British Council’s centre in Barcelona. Through this initiative, the students will be able to expand opportunities internationally, developing their communication skills in English as part of a programme taught by native teachers.
Since 2014, the Ramon Molinas Foundation has offered a total of 141 scholarships for high-achieving students from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds, to provide them with access to high-quality English language training.
