With the programme RMF: Scholarship in English for young adults at the British Council, the Ramon Molinas Foundation promotes the learning and improving of English skills in high-achieving university students in Barcelona that from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds. The young people that take part in the scheme are referred from organisations that work in the field of social action.

Throughout the academic year 2018-2019, the beneficiaries of BarcelonActua’s BAC Scholarships and young people from the Itaca Educational Association will be able to take part in a programme that consists of 90 hours of teaching – split into 30 hours per term – at the British Council’s centre in Barcelona.

The university students that will benefit from the RMF: Scholarship in English for young adults at the British Council will develop their skills in English and have access to a programme of activities, to the library and online learning materials that the academy offers all its students.

About the British Council

The British Council generates cultural opportunities in more than 100 countries through its work in the fields of education, society, art, science, teaching and English certification, touching over 128 million people every year.

The British Council launched in Spain 78 years ago, and last year, 30,000 people trusted in the organisation to learn English, and 57,000 to get their certificate. 2,000 families chose the bicultural, bilingual system for their children at the British Council School.

The challenge of providing better English teaching and deepening international connections is what drives the organisation forward. For this reason, the British Council collaborates with governments, professors and both Spanish and English educational institutions that encourage student exchanges between Spain and the United Kingdom.

Alongside supporting the generation of cultural opportunities, the British Council raises awareness of the work of British scientists and artists. Last year, the organisation participated in more than fifty events raising awareness of these figures in the Spanish public.
