The initiative, designed and developed by the RMF, will encourage active aging in vulnerable older adults.

The Ramon Molinas Foundation has resumed the project A So de Mar in collaboration with the Castelldefels Maritime Club and the Roure Foundation. The initiative aims to support active aging and boost the emotional and physical wellbeing of older adults by encouraging them to spend time at the seaside.

A So de Mar provides people over 65 years old with the opportunity to rediscover their connection to the sea. Participants taking part in the project are typically socioeconomically vulnerable, suffer from loneliness and/or isolation and have a medium level of dependency when carrying out basic daily tasks. They are typically referred by health services, residential centres, or non-profit organisations.

The programme, which takes place at the Castelldefels Maritime Club, includes a walk down the Castelldefels promenade, a programme of physical activities adapted for older adults, workshops on maritime history and culture and will culminate with a social activity accompanied by a light snack.

Launched in February 2020, A So de Mar was unfortunately interrupted by Covid-19. Twenty months later, the Ramon Molinas Foundation have resumed the programme to two days per week, after having taken all the necessary health precautions into account.
