One of the foundation’s volunteers will spend two weeks participating in activities at the Kafountine School of Literacy.
A volunteer from the Ramon Molinas Foundation will travel to Senegal to collaborate with Catalunya-Casamance. From the 28th October to the 11th November, Eva Vinyets will participate in activities at the Kafountine School of Literacy that the organisation has in Kafountine.
In this area, situated in the region of Casamance, access to primary education is limited due to cultural and economic reasons. According to Unicef, only 21.8% of Senegalese children of school age attend educational institutions. This means that there is a high level of illiteracy amongst adults.
Catalunya-Casamance faciliates the education of children, teenagers and the adult population in Kafountine. The School of Literacy has 130 students. In order to take full advantage of the centre, English and Spanish classes are offered to people linked to the tourism industry.
The Ramon Molinas Foundation Volunteer Programme is a space of Exchange and cooperation which contributes to the daily work of other organisations and foundations. From 2016, Aspanias, the Itaca Educational Programme, Cáritas Diocesana de Barcelona, the Marianao Foundation, the Pare Manel Foundation and the Roure Foundation have benefited from the scheme.
