Edited by the UOC, this is the first volume of a collection of books that seeks to highlight the importance of philanthropy in the face of social challenges.

The Ramon Molinas Foundation has contributed to a book published by the UOC entitled ‘Filántropos de referencia’ (‘Important Philanthropists’). This edition will be the first volume in a collection of books that seeks to promote, publicise, and recognise the importance of altruism in the face of challenges with regards to social action.

In this first volume, the Open University of Catalonia sheds light on the figure of the philanthropist, a person who selflessly dedicates their resources with the aim of helping society, creating a foundation, and developing programmes that have social impact.

The book, which brings together writings by five other organisations, gathers together the personal and professional experiences of philanthropists. It includes explanations of the objectives of the contributing foundations, the most successful projects they developed, unforeseen difficulties they had to face, the benefits and social impact generated by the projects, as well as any challenges for the future.

The Ramon Molinas Foundation, which features in the fifth chapter, recounts the creation and evolution of a model based its founding legacy and philosophy. The Foundation details the importance of the trajectory of Ramon Molinas in the construction of the founding pillars, as well as the significance and transformative energy of Anne Topping in establishing the philosophical basis and principles of the Foundation.
