Manyanet Educa, a programme to improve language skills in students

The Ramon Molinas Foundation is collaborating for the third year in a row with the Manyanet Educa programme, a project which aims to improve the language and communicative skills of the students at the Pare Manyanet schools. The institution considers language as a necessary skill in the modern world, and works hard to strengthen students’ abilities in foreign languages in order to improve their professional prospects.

Manyanet Educa encourages the geographical mobility of students in order to consolidate the learning of foreign languages. The programme has launched 13 exchange projects with students which, as well as helping to perfect language skills, offer participants a personal, cultural and enriching life experience.

The objective of the collaboration between the two institutions has provided the necessary resources to help students from families with financial difficulties, so that students are not forced to miss out on the opportunity to train or study abroad.

13 exchange programmes to perfect English, French and German

Pupils from the Pare Manyanet centre in the Barcelona area of Sant Andreu have the opportunity of connecting with students from the Our Lady of Good Counsel school in Maryland (USA).

Students from the Pare Manyanet institutes in Catalonia have the opportunity, for example, to link with students from the schools Our Lady of Good Counsel in Maryland (USA). Firstly, the students are able to visit their exchanges in the USA and after a few months, they host their exchanges in their own country. This experience allows them to meet people, exchange knowledge and discover what life is like for a teenager their age in North America. This programme, however, is not the only language exchange with a school in the United States. Students in their first year of baccalaureate in the Pare Manyanet centre of Les Corts can go on an exchange with students from the Pingree School in Boston or the Prospect High School in Chicago.

Chiddington and Oxted in Great Britain, and Göttingen in Germany are three more locations where students from the Pare Manyanet schools also have the opportunity to participate in language exchanges. Another country which they will be able to visit is Poland; Katowice and Mikolów are two of the towns which ESO students from the Les Corts and Reus centres can visit. In addition, students in their sixth year of primary school at the Begues centre can go on an exchange with students from the Irish town of Killarney.

Lastly, pupils from the second and third year of ESO at the Pare Manyanet centre in Rei participate in an exchange with the Saint Bruno school, located in the French town of La Tour du Pin.

The Pare Manyanet institutions, more than 150 years of service to education

Josep Manyanet (1833-1901) expressed a huge interest in the needs of children and teenagers, and their families. Throughout his life he promoted the training and instruction of the labour force through the creation of institutions, schools, workshops and other educational centres over the world. In the year 2004 he was canonized by Pope John Paul II and his work officially recognised.

There are now a total of eight Pare Manyanet institutes in Spain, seven of which are found in Catalonia. Educational institutions founded with the same missionary vocation of the organisation exist in the United States, in Argentina, Columbia, Venezuela, Brazil and Mexico. The institution’s congregations work towards the personal development of children and adults, collaborating with parents in order to consolidate the values which Father Manyanet dedicated himself to teaching.
