Manyanet Educa, a program to promote mastering English among students

Manyanet Educa, the project emerged thanks to the initiative of the Pare Manyanet centers, has as an aim to promote mastering English among its students. The centers of the institution consider that it is necessary, in nowadays world, to consolidate the command of English so as to favour the students’ future.

With this will, the centers have established that promoting the geographical mobility of their students is essential to consolidate the learning of the English language. Manyanet Educa propels five exchange projects of students who, apart from polishing the language, will go through an enriching personal, cultural and vital experience.

The aim of the collaboration between both institutions is to facilitate the necessary resources in order to help those students from families who suffer from economic difficulties so that they do not miss the opportunity to train abroad during a determinate period of time.

Five exchange programs to improve on English

The students from the Pare Manyanet centers of Cataluña have the opportunity, for example, to interact with students from the school Our Lady of Good Counsel, from Maryland (US). In the first place, the students visit their counterparts in the United States, and after some months, they become the hosts. This experience enables them to meet people, exchange knowledge, and find out what the life of an adolescent in the same conditions is like in North America.

Chiddingstone and Oxted, from the United Kingdom, and Göttingen, from Germany, are three cities where the students from the Pare Manyanet schools also have an opportunity to make an exchange. Finally, the schools from the entity participate as well in the program Comenius which has the aim to reinforce the European dimension in the field of early childhood education, promoting the mobility and the cooperation between schools from different countries. In this case, the school Pare Manyanet participates in a program about the climatic change together with a school from Lisbon (Portugal), another from Babenhausen (Germany), and another from Esmirna (Turkey).

The Pare Manyanet centers, over 150 years serving education

Josep Manyanet (1833-1901) showed a special sensitivity towards the needs of children and adolescents and their families. Throughout his life he promoted the training and instruction of the human capital through the creation of institutes, schools, workshops, and other apostolic centers all over the world. In 2004, the Pope John Paul II canonized him, therefore authorizing his worship.

Currently, there are in Spain a total of eight Pare Manyanet centers, seven of which are in Catalonia. Also in the United States, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, and Mexico, we can find schools created by the missionary vocation of the entity. The congregations of the institution work specially on the comprehensive training of children and adolescents, collaborating with their parents in order to consolidate the values that Father Manyanet was responsible for disseminating.
