The application period for the first round, made up of 50 grants, opens on the 2^nd May and closes on the 6^th May.

The Ramon Molinas Foundation is offering 100 grants to pay for private classes providing academic support for university students who are having trouble with any subject in their programme of study and have financial difficulties. Grants can be awarded thanks to the initiative run by Sharing Academy, a peer-to-peer marketplace which allows students to receive and offer private classes to students at the same university.

Named ‘Best App’ at the 2016 Mobile Premier Awards and aspiring finalist of the first UOC-RMF Prizes, the tool allows students that have achieved high marks in a subject to offer classes to other students who need extra academic support. Sharing Academy is present in 50 Spanish universities and aims to improve the academic results of the universities.

Each one of the 100 grants awarded include a total of 10 hours of private classes. The recipients of the awards can choose the tutor that they prefer and decide on a timetable which suits them until the awarded hours are completed, there is no expiry date. To apply for a grant, students must already be recipients of some type of financial assistance in the form of grants, scholarships, exemptions or reductions of their university fees corresponding to the academic years 2015-2016 or 2016-2017.

Students who want to participate in the scheme need to register at Sharing Academy and send an email to info@sharingacademy.com (with same email address they registered with on the website) with the subject heading “Ramon Molinas Foundation Grants” before the deadlines specified above. In the email, applicants must attach a copy the applicant’s ID card, their university registration, and any documents confirming the award of financial assistance in the form of grants, scholarships, exemptions or reductions received for the acadèmic years 2015-2016 or 2016-2017. The application must also include the last tax declaration of the applicant or his family unit in the case that the applicant is not fiscally independent.

The Ramon Molinas Foundation and Sharing Academy are in charge of selecting the grant recipients in order of applications received. However, if the demand for grants supersedes the number of grants offered, both organisations will use the income tax declaration as the basis for choosing successful applicants. Applicants with the lowest income thresholds will be those chosen to benefit from the scheme. Those awarded a grant will be notified on the 13^th May.
