Digital access to residential services at Violeta, an initiative aiming to reduce the digital divide of disadvantaged women that have been victim of domestic violence

The Ramon Molinas Foundation is collaborating with the Àmbit Prevenció Foundation to provide access to information and communication technologies and improve the digital skills of women using Violeta’s accommodation services, a shelter for disadvantaged women that have been victim of domestic violence.

The collaboration between the two organisations will help to bridge the digital divide for the women that use the residential resources at Violeta and provide training to improve their digital skills. The programme will empower the women to make use of information and communication technology to exercise their rights and access basic resources using digital tools, such as accessing educational resources, completing administrative or medical tasks online, using apps to assist with daily activities, keeping in contact with family and friends, taking part in support networks or accessing culture using online materials, and more.

Residential services at the Àmbit Prevenció Foundation guarantee the continuing to support recuperation and empowerment of women

The residential stays offered by the Àmbit Prevenció Foundation are between six months and two years. The organisation supports the process of recuperation and empowerment of disadvantaged women that have been victims of domestic violence. The residential resources at Violeta provide a respectful and calm space where users can recover and recuperate to the extent that they need.

The organisation provides a wide variety of support for victims of domestic violence: social, through its group work, which creates a support network for women; economic, through plans and training to help women re-enter the workplace; personal, working with each of the women individually and offering personalised care. The organisation also offers psychological support to work on the women’s emotional state and damage caused by the violence they have experienced, and to fight against the stigma suffered by victims.

The Àmbit Prevenció Foundation, an organisation that supports people at risk of social exclusion

The Àmbit Prevenció Foundation was launched in 1993 with the aim of improving quality of life for people at risk of social exclusion. With its base in Sants-Montjuic, the organisation supports and empowers people to become active in their own transformation. Outreach work is fundamental to raising awareness of the foundation’s work, allowing project staff to design innovative projects tailored to the needs of the project’s participants.

When it was launched, the programmes at the Àmbit Prevenció Foundation focused principally on the impact and prevention of HIV and aids, fighting for the rights of victims and against the stigma of people with a positive HIV diagnosis. Recently, the foundation has specialised in the support of women that have suffered from violence in any form. Gender equality is now one of the cornerstones of the foundation’s projects and activities, and is a core priority in the organisation’s objectives.
