The awards are divided into the categories of Information Technology, Multimedia and Security and Telecommunication, which are made up of two participants each. The winners in each field will receive a cheque for 3,000 euros.

The finalists of the second awarding of the UCO-RMF Prizes have been announced. Analysis, improvement, and development of new firmware for the smart citizen kit ambient board by Miguel Colom; Monitoring of mice limbs in optogenetic experiments, by Pere Parés; My wee app: Design and development of a mobile application for the upbringing of babies, by María Fernández; RenalClick: A system for the self-management of chronic renal disease, by Roger Sales; Automatic segmentation of breathing based on acoustic recording, by Juan Alberto Castro and Demotic control with mobile devices, by José Alfonso Pérez have been chosen as the best final projects of the students on the Information Technology, Multimedia and Telecommunications courses at the Open University of Catalonia.

The six finalists will present their work at an event that will take place on the 5^th November at the Palau Macaya in Barcelona, an emblematic modernist building constructed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch. Miguel Colom and Pere Parés will be participating in the category of Information Technology, María Fernández and Roger Sales will be competing to take home the prize in the category of Multimedia, and lastly Juan Alberto Castro and José Alfonso Pérez will be final competitors for the category of Security and Telecommunication. Throughout the cycle of presentations, a panel made up of seven academics and professionals from the information technology sector will select the best piece of work of each category. The panel will be considering the innovation of the work, its technical complexity, its applicability and utility, and the clarity and quality of the presentation. The winners will receive a cheque for 3,000 euros alongside the recognition of having completed the best piece of work of their academic year and the acknowledgement of the IT sector.

This year the UOC-RMF Prizes is excited to announce a presentation by Ramsés Gallego, expert in data security systems and Security Strategist & Evangelist at Dell Software and Immediate International Vice President of the Board of Directors of ISACA, with the collaboration of Albert Fabregat, semi-finalist of the first UOC-RMF Prizes. The event will also feature the rector of the Open University of Catalonia Josep Anton Planell and spokesperson and CEO of the Ramon Molinas Foundation Josep Dueso.

The prize ceremony will be conducted by Lluís Marquina, director and presenter of Catalonia Television’s Digital Generation. Follow the events of the ceremony on Twitter with the hashtag #premisUOCRMF.
