The application period to be awarded one of the 50 grants available opens today, and finishes on the 31st October.
After the success of the first scheme, in which 50 university students from Barcelona, Cartagena, Girona, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Lleida, Madrid, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Tarragona and Valencia, among other areas in Spain, will benefit from the grants provided, the Ramon Molinas Foundation and Sharing Academy have opened the application period to be awarded a grant for the programme Private classes for university students with financial difficulties who need academic support.
The Ramon Molinas Foundation is offering 50 grants to pay for private classes providing academic support for university students who are having trouble with any subject in their programme of study and have financial difficulties. Grants can be awarded thanks to the initiative run by Sharing Academy, a peer-to-peer marketplace which allows students to receive and offer private classes to students at the same university which was awarded the ‘Best App’ at the 2016 Mobile Premier Awards.
Each one of the 50 grants awarded consist of 150 euros to attend 10 hours of private classes. The recipients of the awards can choose the tutor that they prefer and decide on a timetable which suits them until the awarded hours are completed – there is no expiry date. To apply for a grant, students must already hold a general scholarship or grant, or have been awarded reductions or exemptions of tuition fees over the academic years 2015-2016 or 2016-2017.
The deadline for applications is on the 31st October. Students who want to participate in the scheme need to register at Sharing Academy and send an email to info@sharingacademy.com (with same email address they registered with on the website) with the subject heading “Ramon Molinas Foundation Grants” before the deadlines specified above. In the email, applicants must attach a copy of their DNI, documentation demonstrating the accreditation of their general scholarship or grant, or reduction/exemptions of tuition fees over the academic years 2015-2016 or 2016-2017, and their latest income tax declaration, or that of their family if they haven’t yet left home.
The Ramon Molinas Foundation and Sharing Academy are in charge of selecting the grant recipients in order of applications received. However, if the demand for grants supersedes the number of grants offered, both organisations will use the income tax declaration as the basis for choosing successful applicants. Applicants with the lowest income thresholds will be those chosen to benefit from the scheme. Those awarded a grant will be notified on the 7th November.
