146 children and young people at risk of social exclusion have been benefited by the program driven by the Fundació Pare Manel.

The Casal Comedor Intercultural has put a successful end. A total amount of 146 children and young ones at risk of social exclusion from the district of Nou Barris, one of the most hit areas of Barcelona, were benefited by the initiative. Created by the Fundació Pare Manel in the frame of the activities that the entity plans every summer and entirely subsidized by Ramon Molinas Foundation, the Casal offered their participants an educative and playful provision during July and August.

The participants, residents of the neighbourhoods of Verdum, Prosperitat, Roquetes and Turó de la Peira, were able to satisfy two daily meals thanks to the Casal, and enjoyed activities such as excursions to the beaches and swimming pools of Barcelona, the Cosmocaixa, the aquarium, the Tibidabo amusement park, or the zoo, among others.

The Casal Comedor Intercultural, dedicated to children and young ones between 3 and 16 years old, formed the participants for coexistence, cultural diversity and social integration, and worked on good eating and hygienic habits, in a playful context through activities such as workshops, crafts, games, theatre and music.

The initiative was developed in the district of Nou Barris, a district marked by the economic situation that is affecting our country and where family incomes do not exceed the 60% of the average of Barcelona. During summer, the risk of social exclusion is accentuated by the simple reason that children and young ones do not have a defined school rhythm. Many of the participants are would be left unattended and have difficulties to satisfy the basic needs of feeding and hygiene.
