The center, owned by Fundació Esmen, is aimed to people with intellectual disabilities who need a home.
Ramon Molinas Foundation will collaborate for the second consecutive year with Fundació Esmen. After supporting the improvement of the facilities of the occupational center La Gavina, RMF will contribute with the adequacy of the facilities of the home-residence Albatros in Barcelona. The purpose of this action is to improve the quality of life of the users from the center, and it is aimed to people with intellectual disabilities who need a home once it has not turned out advisable that they should live independently.
To assure a decent standard of living to its users, the professionals that form the home-residence Albatros facilitate an adequate environment that substitutes their home, adapted to the individualized needs of each user, and having in mind the corresponding treatment and its pathology.
The professionals from Albatros seek to promote the maintenance or the recovery of the maximum degree of personal and social autonomy of its users through the acquisition of personal habits, ability of social and contextual relationships, and the development of creativity and personal initiative. The multidisciplinary team of Albatros is in charge of organising the activities that give an answer to the individual and social needs of the users. Such activities go from supporting activities of daily living –personal care, organization of coexistence, or habits and rules-, to programming training, leisure and free time activities. Theatre, dance, and cooking workshops, cultural visits to museums and the cinema, table games or sports, are some of the many activities that the users of the home carry out.
