A total of 27 un unemployed people have obtained certificates which accredits them with having received approved training in digital skills.
The Ramon Molinas Foundation has awarded diplomas to 27 unemployed people who have benefited from The digital world supporting insertion into the workplace in Sant Cugat del Vallès. The programme, carried out with the collaboration of the Apip-Acam Foundation, has allowed the Sant Cugat residents to receive approved training in digital skills thanks to the e-citizen and ECDL programmes. In an act passed in the parliamentary chambers of the municipal town council, director of the Ramon Molinas Foundation Xavier Cortés stated that the programme reflects the philosophy and convictions of the founder of the Ramon Molinas Foundation; “Ramon wanted to encourage learning with the aim of relieving the inequality of society”, he remarked.
The director of the Ramon Molinas Foundation has assured that “we should continue to fight towards alleviating the digital divide, placing special emphasis on the digital divide between generations”. This term, coined by Marc Prensky, refers to the fissure between the young and those over 45 years old, who the North American author distinguishes as ‘digital natives’ and ‘digital immigrants’ respectively. “Age groups which share, communicate, buy and sell, exchange, create, meet up, collect, game or socialise in a different way thanks to the ways in which new technology has transformed information and communication. This is a question which has special relevance to the world’s aging population”, Xavier Cortes explains.
The digital world supporting insertion into the workplace, was created with the intention of providing training in information and communication technology in order to alleviate the digital divide in groups at risk of social exclusion. The programme will train five hundred people in the province of Barcelona, and will run until the end of September.
