The event takes place on the 5th November at the Palau Macaya in Barcelona.
The Ramon Molinas Foundation and the Open University of Catalonia have opened registration to attend the second UOC-RMF prize ceremony. The event will be held from 5pm in the afternoon next Thursday 5th November at the Palau Macaya in Barcelona, the emblematic modernist building constructed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch.
The second awarding of UOC-RMF Prizes will recognise the best final projects of a number of engineering technicians, engineering graduates or master’s students studying Information Technology, Multimedia and Telecommunication programmes at the UOC.
In contrast to the year before, the second awarding of the UOC-RMF Prizes will be divided into three categories. Prizes will be awarded to the sectors of Security and Telecommunication, Information Technology and Multimedia, meaning that three prizes will be awarded. The new dividing of the UOC-RMF Prizes will provide more visibility for students accredited to the best final projects of each field, with the objective of putting them in contact with the IT professional sector.
A total of 95 students have applied to be one of the six finalists at the second UOC-RMF prize ceremony. 81% of the projects presented are of high academic quality, written by students who graduated with honours. Currently, three independent commissions made up of university professors and members of the Ramon Molinas Foundation and a panel made up of seven academics and IT sector professionals are evaluating the projects in order to select the six final students, two per category, who will have the opportunity to present their project at the second UOC-RMF prize ceremony. Once the cycle of presentations has finished, the panel will deliberate and select the projects they think deserve first place in each category. The winners will receive a cheque for 3,000 euros.
The second UOC-RMF prize ceremony will feature a presentation by Mr. Ramsés Gallego, Security Strategist & Evangelist at Dell Software and Immediate International Vice President on the Board of Directors of the ISACA, with the involvement of Mr. Josep Dueso, CEO and spokesperson of the Ramon Molinas Foundation as well as the rector of the Open University, Josep A. Planell. The event, conducted by Lluís Marquina, director and presenter of Catalonia Television’s Digital Generation, will conclude with a cocktail for all attendees.
