The first e-newsletter specialising in spasticity, patronised by the RMF, provides useful information to those affected by the disorder with the intention of improving quality of life.
The Ramon Molinas Foundation patronised News Convives over its first year of publication. Twelve months after its creation, the first e-newsletter specialising in spasticity has reached 2,647 subscribers. Promoted by Convives con Espasticidad (Living with Spasticity), the publication provides information related to this disorder with the objective of improving the quality of life of those affected and their families.
In the newsletter, which is published every month and from this point onwards will be a quarterly publication, a multidisciplinary team made up of professionals both linked to and affected by spasticity will share knowledge, professional opinions, experiences and the latest advances in research in an informative, familiar and accessible style. News Convives contains articles on medical, social, health and quality of life issues. There is also space for the publication of events related to spasticity and related disorders and pathologies. Spasticity is a motor disorder associated with multiple illnesses and disabilities. It is a disorder of the central nervous system which causes involuntary and persistent contractions of affected muscles. According to the Guide to comprehensive treatment of spasticity there are between 300,000 and 400,000 people who affected in Spain. The World Health Organisation (WHO) considers spasticity a serious public health issue due to both the number of those affected as well as its consequences and repercussions.
