The RMF is collaborating with the Catalan Down Syndrome Foundation to create a musical group along with students at the Joan Llongueres School of Music.

The Ramon Molinas Doundation is collaborating with the Catalan Down Syndrome Foundation (FCSD) and the Joan Llongueres School of Music to help change the perception of people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities with the help of music.

With the name Musicando, music to change the perception of people with disabilities, the programme will work with 17 people aged 14-17 connected to the Catalan Down Syndrome Foundation, who will form a choir together with students from the Joan Llongueres School of Music. The FCSD members will take part as a choir as well as receive other musical training.

Music has a direct effect on personal development, emotional wellbeing, interpersonal relationships, self-determination and social inclusion. In parallel, people with Down syndrome are often highly sensitive to music, making this a simple therapeutic project that aims to improve skills in attention, cognitive retention, perception, psychomotricity and responsibility.

The project is based on the principles of normalisation and inclusion, taking into account the Social Integration Law for people with disabilities, and aims to increase the quality of life of the young people that participate in the programme.
