The RMF and the Paliaclínic Foundation will renew their collaboration to help care for socioeconomically vulnerable patients so that they are able to confront the process with dignity.
Around 65 families will benefit from the Home care programme for patients with social needs at the final stage of life this year. For the sixth consecutive year, the Ramon Molinas Foundation and the Paliaclínic Foundation have renewed their collaboration to care for and accompany socioeconomically vulnerable patients in their final stage of life, so that they are able to confront the process with dignity and in their own home.
This year, more neighbourhoods will be included into the programme. Residents of the Litoral Mar Healthcare Area (AIS) in Barcelona will benefit from the initiative, which includes the Hospital del Mar and fourteen primary care centres in the districts of Ciutat Vella and Sant Martí. Up until now, the Home care programme for patients with social needs at the final stage of life has been running in the Barcelona Dreta and Muntanya Healthcare Areas. These areas make up the districts of Gràcia, Horta-Guinardó, Nou Barris, Sant Andreu and Dreta de l’Eixample.
The same as previous years, the patients benefiting from the programme will receive three types of assistance. . Firstly, they will have access to an equipment loan service. Special mattresses for patients who have to spend long periods of time in bed, cranes, adjustable beds or wheelchairs are just some of the devices that will facilitate patient care. Secondly, they will be provided with the service of a social worker to carry out personalised care tasks. Finally, alongside their families, they will be offered an emotional support service through visits from a psychologist and other complementary treatments such as art therapy and music therapy.
