A total of 8,013 people have benefited from programmes developed by the organisation since 2012.
On the 7th May 2012, the Ramon Molinas Foundation was created with the intention of promoting the technological, scientific and social development of individuals and society. Several years later and the RMF has reached 8,013 people with programmes focused on training, research and social action.
“The Ramon Molinas Foundation has made a huge positive social impact over these last five years,” said Xavier Cortés, Director of the organisation. In the area of training and research, the RMF has awarded a total of 214 scholarships and 9 prizes. Among the grants offered were the 94 scholarships for the programme RMF: Scholarship in English for young learners at the British Council, the 100 provided through the Sharing Academy with the aim of providing private classes to university students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and the 14 grants for studying an interuniversity Master’s course in information technology and communication security (MISTIC) at the Open University of Catalonia. The UOC-RMF Prizes celebrated their third year in 2016, with the aim of encouraging technological and scientific entrepreneurship and promoting good ideas to improve society. Lastly, the Ramon Molinas Foundation sponsored the research programme to improve head and torso functionality in children with cerebral palsy, and a study into the prevalence of child hemiparesis in Spain. These two pioneering research projects will be publishing their results before the end of this year.
In social action, the RMF has launched 56 projects thanks to collaborations with 32 non-profit organisations. 83.3% of the €964,000 donated to this area of action has gone towards helping women victims of gender violence; the social integration of children, teenagers and adults at risk of social exclusion due to social-economic difficulties; promoting social integration and improving quality of life for children, teenagers and adults with intellectual disabilities; as well as end-of-life care.
“We are very proud to preserve and promote the legacy of Ramón Molinas”, explained Xavier Cortés. The Director of the RMF took the opportunity during the celebration to remember the man who founded the organisation, explaining, “His way of understanding life still inspires us, and encourages us to keep on growing and improving”. “The Ramon Molinas Foundation is determined to play a significant role in the process of social transformation, always working to catalyse and create new projects”, he remarked. The celebrations also marked the organisation’s visions for the future. “We are in the process of drawing up our strategic plan for the next five years”, explained Xavier Cortés.
